ST PATRICK’S GETS THE GO-AHEAD FOR NEW BUILD

The Department of Education has given the go-ahead for the new build
of St Patrick’s Primary School, Antrim Road, Belfast.
Temporary accommodation will be erected on the present junior site (the former Star of the Sea PS),
to allow for the decanting from the senior site (the former Edmund Rice PS).
The senior site will be demolished and will be the site of the new school.
The present junior site will, eventually, accommodate sporting facilities and car parking.

This is great news for the St Patrick’s Primary School Community, the Trustees (Edmund Rice Schools Trust) and the Parish of St Patrick.

The teaching order of the Christian Brothers arrived in Belfast in 1866 to manage St Mary’s PES, Divis St. From 1867 they managed St Patrick’s Primary School in Donegall Street
until the school was replaced by Edmund Rice Primary, Pim St in 1967.

In 2013, Edmund Rice Primary (Pim St) was amalgamated with Star of the Sea Primary (Churchill St)
and the school is now called St Patrick’s Primary.
