Welcome to our school website. Our website offers a snapshot of the vibrant opportunities within our school for the academic, social, spiritual and personal development of all our students. Complementing our wide range of subjects, the school has an extensive array of extra-curricular activities and a pastoral care system, which places the student at the heart of the school.
Omagh CBS educates boys between the ages of 11 and 19 years who live in its large catchment area, which extends across most of West Tyrone. We are a member of the Omagh Learning Community and are involved in collaboration with other schools to meet the learning needs and career aspirations of our students.
Omagh CBS is an Edmund Rice Trust School and is inspired by the vision of Blessed Edmund Rice. We aspire to the holistic development of our students and seek to offer them every opportunity to enrich their educational and life experiences in preparation for the challenges of the 21st Century. We believe that high quality teaching and learning can empower pupils to strive for excellence in all aspects of life. We are committed to building a learning community which both nurtures and promotes caring and confident students, who develop a strong sense of justice and contribute to the wider community.
The Christian Brothers have a long established tradition of provision of education in Omagh.
The first school was established in 1861 on the site of the current Pastoral Centre on the Brookmount Road, before moving to the current 5 acre site on the Kevlin Road in 1967. Although the initial building was completed in 1967, it underwent complete renovation and extension in 1993 with a new technology suite added in 1994. Our building currently supports 950 pupils. The external sports facilities include sports fields at Coolnagard and the Christian Brothers’ Park on the Mountjoy Road, with changing pavilions as well as a 3G pitch beside the school. At present the school is planning, with five other schools, to relocate to the new Strule Education Campus on the Gortin Road for September 2020.
