A great evening was celebrated by a thousand
Edmund Rice / Christian Brothers Past Pupils and Friends
with former President, Mary McAleese and guests
to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Blessed Edmund Rice.

The Edmund Rice 250 event, was organised by past pupils and friends of Christian Brothers and
Edmund Rice schools across the island of Ireland.

Joining the keynote speaker, former president, Mary McAleese on the night was
the President of St. Patrick’s College and John Hope Prize winning academic,Dr. Dáire Keogh, 
and noted activist and author, Fr. Peter McVerry.  
The evening’s programme also featured musical performances from the Artane Boys’ Band, Naas CBS, 
a joint group from Coláiste Íosagáin and Eoin and the Artane Senior Band.  
Presentations and videos relating to education in Ireland and in the missions were also presented on the night.
