Br Aidan Quinlan RIP / Mrs Marie McQuillan RIP

BR  AIDAN QUINLAN RIP

Brother Aidan Quinlan of the Congregation of the Christian Brothers died on Tuesday, 27th August 2013.

Br Aidan is greatly respected for his service in a number of schools in the North as Teacher and Principal.

He did trojan work in his ‘retirement’ for the African missions.

D’oibrigh sé go dian dícheallach ar son na Gaeilge, sa rang agus ar Choiste Scoldrámaíochta.

“One day after his eighty third birthday, Aidan died in Baldoyle on August 27th last. Aidan was a wonderful gentleman and a deeply loyal Christian Brother. His recent years gave him an experience of increasingly debilitating health which he accepted with great peace. He made huge contributions during his life to the promotion of vocations, the Edmund Rice League of Prayer, and to the missions of the Congregation in developing countries. In his address during the funeral Mass, Edmund Garvey said of Aidan: “Much of what I have referred to is about the Aidan Quinlan that we observed, and listened to, lived with and tried to keep up with. In many ways, he was a man of simple certainty and he lived it to the full. He sought very little for himself and was ever whole-hearted and generous.”  (Taken from the Congregation’s European Province Update)

His funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday morning, 29th August,  followed by burial in the adjoining community cemetery.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
