Frank Aiken

Aiken, Frank: (Minister) TD (13 February 1898 – 18 May 1983):  A commander of the Irish Republican Army and Irish politician.  Founding member of Fianna Fáil. First elected to Dáil Éireann in 1923 and at each subsequent election until 1973. Minister of Defence (1932–1939), Minister for the Coordination of Defensive Measures  (1939–1945), Minister for Finance (1945–1948) and Minister for External Affairs(1951–1954 and 1957–1969). Also served as Minister for Lands and Fisheries and as Tánaiste from 1965 until 1969. He holds the distinction of being the second longest-serving member of the Dáil.
