This year our theme centered on Laudato Si’ in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ environmental initiative.
Our guest of honour and keynote speaker is Professor Dermot Diamond, Professor Emeritus, Dublin City University of Sensor Science and Materials Chemistry and Principal Investigator, INSIGHT Centre for Data Analytics, Dublin City University. Dermot is also a consultant on many worldwide sensing and environmental projects and an ambassador for the European Innovation Council. He is a current project advisor for an initiative to rid Lough Neagh of dangerous Blue, Green Algae, one of the many environmental issues he champions.
He is a proud past pupil of St. Mary’s CBS, Belfast and later a Chemistry and Science teacher of many years at his alma mater. He has championed many successful student teams in Young Scientist and other science competitions and has always remained a CBS ‘Old Boy’ at heart.

Thank you to Christian Brothers Primary School, Armagh for their warmest of welcomes and hospitality.
Thanks for Cormac and his team at Westcourt Centre who facilitated the photo and artwork competition of our “Care For Our Common Home” on Laudato Sí and environmental responsibility. Congratulations to the prize winners below and all those who made the shortlist. We will extend this next year to all schools.
